Photos of a Heirloom Quality Baptism Dress

By dress, Graphic Works, product photography

I was asked to photograph baptism dress at the Graphic Works studio today. No big deal I thought…then my boss pulled it out of the case.

It was the most intricate and delicate heirloom-quality baptism dress that I had ever seen. The workmanship was impressive, and I can only imagine the amount of hours put into making something like that. Actually, there are over 40 hours of work into this.

What I was surprised to find was that the dress was totally hand made… including the lace.

This is not something that you get to see any more because people are unwilling to spend that amount of time and effort doing this tedious and delicate work by hand.

Making the white on white details of the stitching show up was a challenge, but you can see that every stitch was placed with love. If you need a good seamstress or a baptism outfit for your child, contact Susan Wasmer at fabricmom@hotmail.com

Product Catalog and Web Site for Effective Environmental Systems

EES, Inc. (Effective Environmental Systems) is one of my oldest and most favorite clients. I feel like I have grown up with them and you would be hard pressed to find a nicer group of people.
Dan Ritter, the owner of the company, is an ex-marine and very patriotic, and our first catalog design for them reflected this with a red, white and blue color theme.

After years of success using this marketing, it was time for something noticeably new. Our latest catalog design features a green and blue color palette and elements from nature. We wanted to evoke a feeling of the fresh air you’d find outdoors. After all, the main products that they sell are air fresheners and industrial strength deodorizers. View the EES catalog PDF here.

We revamped their website with the new graphics theme for continuity. Visit them at www.eesatl.com for more information.

Protective Glove Photography in a Factory

By Aegis, Factory, Gloves, Graphic Works, photography, product photography

Graphic Works was asked to photograph a set of industrial cut-resistant gloves for a catalog. This product is made with kevlar to resist cuts and has abrasion-resistant rubber palms to provide great dexterity. These gloves will take lots of abuse and protect the wearer’s hands. I made these photos on location at another client’s factory where there was a lot of sharp blades and oily equipment. The 2 photos below will be the ones to be used in company literature.

120 Head Shots for an Atlanta Corporation

By Graphic Works, head shots, portraits

I am currently in the process of taking 120 head shot portraits for a very large corporate insurance company in Atlanta. I have the luxury of 15 minutes with each person which is great because I get to learn a little bit about each one. The portraits are slightly informal so they all do not have to match exactly, but definitely NO TIES. Here are the first 31 without final cropping. Only 89 left to go!

Canon 5D Mark 2 Web Commercial for ReNu Finish

By automobiles, automotive products, Graphic Works, ReNu Finish, videography

When a client needed a demonstration video for his car restoration product, I did not hesitate to use the Canon 5d Mark II. Hollywood has already embraced this DSLR video technology for movies, television and commercials. Considering the relatively low entry cost for full HD quality, it is easy to see why.

The product demo was filmed on a used car lot where we found the a very weathered 10 year old vehicle to show how ReNu Finish restores plastic trim to its original factory finish. The best thing about this product is that one application can last up to a year, unlike some of the silicon spray products on the market.

The video was a group effort with me shooting the raw footage, Chase Walker providing the voice over with music and David Struve at Graphic Works editing the clips.

This product should soon be available at many major retail auto parts stores and department stores. For more information visit www.medsproducts.com.

Corporate Event Photography at ADAC Atlanta

Low Light Conference at ADAC

I was hired by a long time client to take photos of a special event seminar about Green Design that she was hosting in ADAC’s presentation room. The seminar had many distinguished speakers from the interior design, architecture and scientific worlds and it was important to record this event.

When I arrived at the room, I noticed how dark it was. Their plan was to show slides as the speakers talked about their areas of expertise. Mary requested no flash so that the speakers would not be disturbed.
Luckily, I own the new Canon 5D Mark 2 which allowed me to boost my ISO to extremely high levels without noise in the final images. Along with a trusty monopod and controlled application of the shutter, I was able to pull the job off without a hitch.
My client was thrilled with the final photos of the seminar and the wine party in her shop afterwards, and she gave me a nice compliment: “I did not even notice you during the seminar, but you got the shots!”

Head Shots of Atlanta Doctors

By Atlanta, corporate photography, Graphic Works, headshot portraits, photography, portraits

I was hired by a long time client at Graphic Works to shoot headshot portraits of 16 doctors in 3 different hospitals in the Atlanta area. Painstaking efforts were taken to ensure that all of the portraits looked like they were taken in the same studio on the same day, instead of 3 different times and locations. This was accomplished with a low-tech tape measure, pen and paper.

I really enjoy this kind of work because I get to meet a lot of different personalities in  a short period of time. You can see this and other corporate photography at my new site promoting my corporate photography services… launching soon!
